Shekarau Hails Adebayo’s Vision, Says Party Lines Shouldn’t Hinder Nigeria’s Progress

Former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, has commended Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for what he described as a shared vision for Nigeria’s progress, declaring that “great minds think alike” despite their different political affiliations.

Shekarau made the remarks while receiving Adebayo during a condolence visit following the death of his elder brother.

Recounting how their relationship began, Shekarau said he first encountered Adebayo through a televised interview during the presidential election campaign and was impressed by his articulation of national issues.

“My first interaction with him was on television. I watched his interview during the presidential race and appreciated all that he enunciated,” Shekarau said.

He explained that his admiration prompted him to obtain Adebayo’s contact through associates and arrange a meeting, insisting on personally paying him a visit.

According to Shekarau, their subsequent discussions revealed strong alignment in their aspirations for Nigeria. “We exchanged ideas and discovered we share the same vision for this dear country, Nigeria. I want to assure you that great minds think alike,” he added.

The former governor stressed that although they belong to different political parties, affiliations should not overshadow the broader objective of national development, describing parties as “necessary evils” within the current political structure.

He urged Nigerians to support credible leaders regardless of party lines and prayed for peace and growth in the country.

Adebayo’s visit was part of efforts to commiserate with his family during their period of mourning.
