At Oyo 50th Anniversary Prayers, Makinde Rallies Citizens For Inclusive Development
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has called on residents to sustain unity and collective responsibility as the state marks 50 years since its creation, stressing that continued progress depends on peace, cooperation and good governance.
The governor, who spoke through his deputy, Chief Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal, made the call at a special Jumat prayer held at the Central Mosque, Oja’ba, Ibadan, as part of activities commemorating the golden jubilee of the state.
According to Makinde, the anniversary is not only a time for celebration but also a moment for reflection, gratitude and renewed commitment to policies that promote inclusive development and peaceful coexistence.
He urged citizens to remain steadfast in supporting efforts aimed at sustaining growth and stability, noting that the achievements recorded over the decades were made possible through collective sacrifice and shared values.
In his goodwill message, Senator Sarafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, congratulated the people of the state on the milestone and encouraged them to continue working together for the state’s advancement.
The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Abubakry Agbotomokekere, in his sermon, praised the state government for fostering religious harmony and urged leaders and citizens alike to uphold tolerance and moral responsibility.
He offered prayers for enduring peace, unity and development in Oyo State, while also remembering past leaders who laid the foundation for the state’s growth.
The Jumat service was attended by former Governor and Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, as well as senior government officials, lawmakers, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
