President Bola Tinubu has defended his administration’s prioritisation of infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing roads and other public works as the foundation of economic growth and national development.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima during the commissioning of Collector Roads 01 and 02 in Mabushi District, Abuja, on Friday, Tinubu said improved road networks would boost commerce, enhance productivity and improve the quality of life for residents.
“When roads connect, businesses grow. When movement is easy, productivity rises. When travel is safe, citizens are free,” the President said, adding that infrastructure remains “the backbone of a modern economy.”
According to him, the newly completed collector roads have improved connectivity within Mabushi by linking the district’s bus terminal to other parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), easing traffic congestion and reducing travel time.
Tinubu said his administration remained committed to building a world-class capital city through sustained investment in infrastructure across both the city centre and satellite communities.
“Our vision remains clear: a world-class capital that works for every resident, whether you live in Asokoro or Kuje, in Wuse or Gwagwalada. Interconnectivity is how we get there,” he said.
He commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for driving infrastructure development in Abuja, saying the minister had delivered on the administration’s mandate to improve the capital’s infrastructure.
Earlier, Wike said the commissioning of the roads was in line with the President’s directive to improve infrastructure across all districts of the FCT.
