Belgium Crush New Zealand 5-1 To Top Group G

Belgium sealed top spot in Group G at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 5-1 win over New Zealand at BC Place in Vancouver on Saturday morning.
The result, combined with Iran’s 1-1 draw against Egypt, sent Belgium through as group winners and into the Round of 32 in Seattle on Wednesday, July 1. New Zealand finished bottom and were eliminated.
Belgium dominated from the start, with Leandro Trossard hitting the woodwork early before opening the scoring in the 28th minute from Kevin De Bruyne’s corner.
Trossard doubled the lead shortly after the restart, and De Bruyne made it 3-0 midway through the second half.
Elijah Just pulled one back for New Zealand in the 84th minute, but Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Saelemaekers added late goals to complete the rout.
