The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned calls by those romanticizing the idea of foreign intervention in Nigeria, describing such advocacy as “treacherous, disgraceful, and unpatriotic.”
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC said it was compelled to address what it called “a dangerous and disgraceful trend” being pushed by a “faction of politically frustrated individuals”.
Oladejo described suggestions of a United States invasion of Nigeria as delusional and an act of “national betrayal,” accusing some opposition figures of spreading misinformation abroad to tarnish the country’s image.
The Lagos APC spokesman said the recent surge in negative foreign commentary about Nigeria was the outcome of “months of deliberate demarketing” and false narratives by opposition actors who, he alleged, “exported their bitterness abroad” after failing to convince Nigerians at home.
Oladejo warned that those romanticizing the idea of foreign intervention should learn from war-torn countries such as Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan, adding that such actions would only bring “devastation, disintegration, and domination.”
“A U.S. invasion does not bring democracy. It brings devastation, disintegration, and domination. No winners—only rubble, body bags, and foreign interests smiling,” he stated.
Oladejo, however, maintained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration was focused on rebuilding the economy, restoring security, and strengthening international partnerships.
He assured that Nigeria would not succumb to what he called “blackmail through foreign sympathy,” declaring that the country’s sovereignty remains non-negotiable, adding further “We will not trade our flag for foreign boots. We will not exchange our destiny for pity from outsiders. Nigeria will rise—not with foreign bombs, but with Nigerian courage, leadership, and vision.”
The Lagos APC reiterated its confidence in the resilience of the nation and called on citizens to unite behind President Tinubu’s efforts to deliver progress and stability.
It would be recalled that US President Donald Trump has designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over reported Christian genocide.
Following this designation, the US Department of War declared readiness to take action in Nigeria.
