The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has described President Bola Tinubu’s two years in office as a period of “inspiring transformation” marked by a rejuvenated economy, renewed national spirit, and a reinvention of the Nigerian state.
Speaking on Thursday at the 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Engagement held at the Agege Local Government Secretariat, Obasa said this year’s theme — “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda” — was carefully chosen to showcase the tangible benefits of governance under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
“This unique programme, which holds across all 40 constituencies in the state, provides a viable opportunity to render an account of our stewardship, engage and interact with constituents, strengthen mutual solidarity, and collectively address pressing issues affecting the growth and development of our communities,” he said.
Obasa noted that under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the administration has aggressively tackled economic stagnation and instability. He said strategic reforms — including a re-engineering of fiscal policies and revenue mechanisms — have boosted investor confidence, diversified the economy, improved Nigeria’s credit rating and laid a foundation for sustainable development.
Recognising infrastructure as the backbone of development, he highlighted transformative national projects such as new road networks, upgraded ports and modern public facilities, which he said are enhancing quality of life and reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a hub for commerce and innovation.
On agriculture, the Speaker said significant investments in mechanised farming, improved financing and expanded markets have empowered farmers, increased production and positioned Nigeria as a potential agricultural powerhouse.
He also applauded the Tinubu administration’s investment in human capital, describing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a landmark policy that is giving students renewed hope.
Drawing a parallel between the federal and state governments, Obasa praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for being a “pivotal partner” in realising the shared vision of progress through innovative urban renewal, efficient service delivery and legislative collaboration.
In his welcome address, Acting Chairman of Agege LGA, Abdul Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, lauded President Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to restoring Nigeria to the path of economic stability and prosperity, and pledged to emulate the president in ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every member of the community.
