NITDA Unveils Strategy To Attract Data Centre Investments

The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has outlined Nigeria’s strategy for converting growing digital demand into sustainable investments in data centres and critical technology infrastructure.
Inuwa spoke at the ITW Data Cloud Africa 2026 panel, “Converting Digital Demand into Data Centre Investment,” alongside industry leaders from Digital Realty Nigeria, Equinix, Africa Hyperscalers and Oracle.
He said attracting investment requires clear government direction, regulatory certainty and secure digital ecosystems.
Inuwa noted that predictable policies would guide infrastructure development and give investors confidence to make long-term decisions.
Highlighting Nigeria’s advantages, Inuwa cited its large population, growing demand for localised digital services, strategic position as a connectivity hub for West and Central Africa, and expanding technology talent.
He said NITDA is strengthening digital trust through cybersecurity frameworks, including the Digital Assurance Framework, Cybercrime Act and National Cybersecurity Architecture.
These measures, he said, would create the secure and predictable foundation needed to attract investment in data centres, cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
