Nigeria’s D’Tigress suffered a disappointing start to their 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup campaign, losing 99–81 to South Korea in Berlin on Friday.
South Korea dominated much of the contest with sharp attacking play, taking an early 26–22 lead at the end of the first quarter.
D’Tigress responded in the second quarter, edging the Koreans 23–22, but still trailed 48–45 at halftime.
South Korea regained control after the break, winning the third quarter 20–17 before pulling away decisively in the final period. The Koreans outscored Nigeria 31–19 in the fourth quarter to secure an 18-point victory.
Park Ji-hyun led all scorers with 27 points, six rebounds and six steals, while Kang Lee-seul added 20 points and seven assists.
The defeat leaves D’Tigress with an early setback as they regroup for their remaining group-stage fixtures.
