Lagos Approves 2026/2027 Harmonised Calendar For Schools

The Lagos State Government has approved and released the 2026/2027 Harmonised Academic Calendar for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.
The approval was announced by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, following consultations with education stakeholders coordinated by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA).
According to the commissioner, the calendar was finalised after two stakeholders’ meetings where participants reviewed and agreed on key dates for the new academic session.
He said the approved calendar contains school resumption dates, mid-term breaks, examination periods and holidays, providing a uniform framework to guide schools, teachers, parents and students throughout the academic year.
Alli-Balogun noted that the harmonised calendar reflects the state government’s commitment to improving the quality of education and ensuring a well-organised and seamless academic session across all schools.
He urged all public and private primary and secondary schools in Lagos State to strictly comply with the approved schedule to ensure uniformity and effective implementation.
The commissioner also advised members of the public to access the full 2026/2027 academic calendar on the official website of the Office of Education Quality Assurance and on all official Lagos State Government digital platforms.
The approval was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Tertiary Education, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite.
