Arsenal moved six points clear at the top of the Premier League as Bukayo Saka starred and Viktor Gyokeres took his season tally to 21 goals in a comfortable win over Fulham at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s side seized the opportunity to pile pressure on title rivals Manchester City, who have two games in hand and are not in action until Monday’s trip to Everton.
Arsenal made a bright start and took the lead in the ninth minute when Saka, making his first start since March after recovering from an Achilles injury, beat Raul Jimenez on the right flank before setting up Gyokeres for a simple close-range finish.
The Swedish striker then turned provider five minutes before halftime, slipping a neat pass to Saka, who curled a precise low effort past goalkeeper Bernd Leno at the near post.
Gyokeres completed his brace in first-half stoppage time, rising to head home a cross from Leandro Trossard and effectively seal the victory for the hosts.
Arsenal nearly added a fourth goal in the second half when Riccardo Calafiori struck the crossbar, having earlier seen a goal ruled out for offside.
With the game under control, Arteta made several changes, including withdrawing Saka at halftime to manage his workload following his recent return from injury.
Attention now shifts to Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, with the tie finely balanced at 1–1 ahead of the decisive clash at the Emirates Stadium.
