…says Osoba’s legacy inspires generations
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has paid glowing tribute to former Ogun State Governor and elder statesman, Aremo Chief Olusegun Osoba, on his 87th birthday, describing him as an outstanding patriot, accomplished journalist, exceptional democrat, and one of Nigeria’s finest political leaders.
In a congratulatory message, Abiodun said Osoba’s remarkable career in journalism, politics, and public service reflects courage, integrity, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and national development.
The governor noted that the two-time Ogun State governor is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished journalists and respected democratic icons, adding that his influence extends far beyond public office through his mentorship, statesmanship, and role in shaping generations of leaders.
According to Abiodun, Osoba belongs to a rare generation of Nigerians whose contributions have profoundly influenced the country’s democratic evolution.
“From the newsroom, where he distinguished himself as one of Africa’s finest journalists, to the Government House, where he provided visionary leadership for Ogun State, Chief Osoba has consistently demonstrated that public office is a sacred trust to be exercised with integrity, wisdom, and compassion,” the governor said.
He also commended Osoba’s contributions to the restoration and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria, noting that the elder statesman consistently stood for justice, constitutional governance, and the rule of law during critical periods in the nation’s history.
Abiodun further described the former governor as a father figure whose wisdom, experience, and calm disposition have continued to guide successive administrations in Ogun State and political leaders across the country.
The governor said he had personally benefited from Osoba’s fatherly advice and political insight, adding that his enduring passion for Ogun State continues to inspire younger generations to embrace excellence, discipline, and selfless service.
