2027: Tinubu Can Be Defeated, Says Tambuwal

….Unveils Opposition Strategy

Former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has declared his commitment to working with opposition forces to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, describing the effort as a “national consensus.”

Speaking on the coalition’s objectives, Tambuwal said the movement is focused on a lawful and democratic process to bring about a change of leadership at the end of Tinubu’s tenure.

“I am fully involved in a process — democratically and lawfully — that will, by the grace of God, end in sending this government out of office. With the help of God and Nigeria, we will send these people out of office,” the former Speaker of the House of Representatives stated.

He dismissed suggestions that the coalition is a pro-Northern agenda aimed at removing President Tinubu, citing the diversity of its key figures. “It is a national consensus. Is Peter Obi from Northern Nigeria? Is Aregbesola not from Osun State?” he asked, stressing that the goal is a constitutional and democratic change of government on May 29, 2027.

Tambuwal accused the Tinubu administration of failing to deliver the dividends of democracy, and downplayed the perceived power of incumbency.

“It is not cast in stone that he may not lose in 2027. Every effort being made to portray Bola Tinubu as invincible — that he cannot be defeated — is rubbish,” he said.

“He can be defeated. I believe so and I am working along with coalition leaders to do that in the interest of the country. It is not about Bola Tinubu; it is about the way he is running the country,” Tambuwal added.
