Yari, Uzodinma Lead APC 2027 Campaign Council

 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election, naming former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma as secretary.

President Bola Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be vice chairman.

APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda will also serve as vice chairman of the council, according to the list released on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.

The campaign council includes senior party leaders with responsibilities covering mobilisation, election planning, legal affairs and media.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy director-generals for the campaign.

They will work with Senators Opeyemi Bamidele and Jibril Barau on zonal coordination.

Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole was appointed deputy director-general for mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.

Faleke will work with zonal directors for the six geopolitical zones.

The legal directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, with Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will coordinate the media and strategic communications directorate alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were appointed coordinating deputy directors in the media directorate.

Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, while Solomon Arowolo was named secretary of the directorate.

The campaign council also appointed five spokespersons led by Alake. The other spokespersons are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 election.

He also urged leaders of the various directorates to bring in other party members who could contribute to the campaign, even if they were not included in the formal list.

“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said.

“We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians.”

The President urged the campaign team to highlight the administration’s achievements as the election approaches.

“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet—let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation,” he said.

Tinubu also called on the party to defeat what he described as forces seeking to take the country backwards.
