LASG Flags Off 19th Edition of HOS Games

The Lagos State Government has officially kicked off the 19th edition of the Head of Service (HOS) Games, aimed at promoting sportsmanship, fitness and camaraderie among public servants.

The event was declared open by the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, at the Lagos State Rehabilitation Centre, Isheri-Berger.

Agoro said the annual games are designed to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and comradeship, as well as encourage a culture of physical fitness and mental wellness among state employees.

He urged participants to abide by the rules and maintain discipline throughout the competition, adding that winners in both male and female categories would receive trophies and other prizes.

Agoro commended Team Public Service Office (PSO) and Team LASUTH for their high standard of play, and encouraged other agencies to remain motivated. He also revealed that the organising committee is working on a new model to give the competition a fresh outlook in future editions.

The Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Office and Vice Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, expressed the state government’s delight at the broad participation of ministries, departments and agencies, stressing that the event highlights fitness, teamwork and staff welfare.

A committee member, Mr. Richard Ogbe, said measures had been put in place to ensure that only qualified staff participate, with medical and security teams on ground to safeguard players.

In the opening football match, Team Public Service Office defeated Team LASUTH by three goals to nil.
