SORA has emerged winner of the fourth Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Hackathon Live Show 2026, securing the N3 million grand prize for developing an inclusive technology solution for persons with disabilities.
Clear Signal and IKOR placed second and third, respectively, winning N2 million and N1 million at the two-day competition, themed “Technology Without Barriers.”
The hackathon brought together 20 teams comprising innovators, developers, entrepreneurs, researchers, students and persons with disabilities to develop practical solutions aimed at promoting digital inclusion.
SORA’s winning solution is a job-matching and adaptive skills platform designed to connect verified persons with disabilities in Nigeria to employment and skills-development opportunities.
Clear Signal, the second-place winner, developed a platform that provides accessible electricity outage alerts to blind, visually impaired, deaf and hard-of-hearing users through voice calls, text messages and visual notifications.
IKOR, which placed third, is an AI-powered voice dictation and writing tool designed to address barriers associated with expensive assistive hardware, poor internet connectivity and physical typing.
Speaking on the initiative, NCC Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Aminu Maida, said the Commission remained committed to leveraging technology to tackle digital exclusion and expand participation in the digital economy.
Representing Maida at the event, the Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management, Rimini Makama, urged investors, telecommunications operators and other stakeholders to support the commercialisation of promising innovations emerging from the programme.
The Commission said all participating teams received consolation prizes and certificates, while reaffirming its commitment to supporting indigenous innovation and the development of accessible technologies across Nigeria.
