Lagos Begins Ozumba Mbadiwe Road Repair October 19, Announces Traffic Diversions

The Lagos State Government will commence a 35-day rehabilitation of Ozumba Mbadiwe Road on Monday, October 19, 2026, with temporary traffic diversions introduced to minimise disruption during the construction.

The project will cover the stretch from Adetokunbo Ademola/Civic Centre to Samuel Manuwa/BJ.

The government said a contra-flow arrangement would be implemented on the Lagos-bound carriageway between Samuel Manuwa and Adetokunbo Ademola/Civic Centre while rehabilitation work is carried out on the opposite carriageway.

Under the traffic management plan, motorists travelling from Bonny Camp and Falomo towards Civic Centre and Lekki will be diverted through designated alternative routes, including Adeyemo Alakija Street, Adeola Hopewell Street, Akinbo Savage Street and Bishop Aboyade Cole Street.

Further diversions will affect motorists travelling from Falomo towards Akin Adesola, from Bonny Camp towards the Eko Hotel axis, and from Eko Hotel towards Civic Centre and Falomo-Ikoyi. Motorists are advised to follow the designated routes and comply with instructions from traffic officials.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be deployed to manage traffic flow, reduce congestion and minimise inconvenience throughout the rehabilitation period.

The government urged motorists to plan their journeys ahead, obey traffic regulations and cooperate with traffic officials to ensure smooth movement during the construction.
