Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, has urged the Super Falcons to put their defeat to Malawi behind them and focus on winning the tournament.
He described the loss as a temporary setback meant to inspire a stronger response.
Reacting after Tuesday’s game, Shaibu urged the players not to lose confidence, noting that football is unpredictable and setbacks are part of the game. He said champions are defined by how well they recover.
“The task ahead is bigger than yesterday’s defeat,” he said, calling for unity, discipline and commitment.
He expressed confidence that the team can bounce back and compete strongly for the title.
Shaibu added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu looks forward to receiving the team with the trophy and continues to support them. He also noted that Nigerians are fully behind the team and urged the players to draw strength from that support.
He concluded that the Super Falcons represent the nation’s resilience and expressed hope they will use the defeat as motivation to win the trophy.
