Flying Eagles Eye WAFU B-20 Semi-Final Spot

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will be aiming to secure a place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-20 AFCON qualifiers when they take on Togo later today in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

Coach Abdu Maikaba’s side made an impressive start to the tournament with a 4-2 victory over arch-rivals Ghana in their opening Group B fixture.

Togo’s Junior Hawks, meanwhile, suffered a 3-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in their opening match. Another loss against Nigeria would see them eliminated from the competition before their final group game.

Today’s encounter is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m. Nigerian time.

Despite the convincing win over Ghana, Maikaba expressed disappointment over his team’s missed scoring opportunities, insisting they must be more clinical in front of goal.

Warri Wolves midfielder Oraro Lucky delivered an impressive performance in the opening match, while Abdulmuiz Adeleke stole the spotlight with a brace against the Ghanaians.

The two finalists of the qualifying tournament will earn places at next year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Ghana.
