The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Committee for the appointment of assistant coaches to the U-17 Girls’ National Team, the Flamingos.
Former international defender Joy Jegede-Idakwo has been named first assistant coach, while another ex-international, Aighewi Omodiaghe, will serve as second assistant.
Former Nigeria international Kola Ige has also been appointed as the team’s goalkeepers’ trainer.
Jegede-Idakwo previously captained the U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, and earned several caps with the senior team, the Super Falcons.
Omodiaghe was part of the Nigeria U-17 girls’ squad that featured at the inaugural FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand in 2008.
The trio will work alongside Head Coach Akeem Ishola Busari as the Flamingos aim to qualify for this year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco and improve on the third-place finish achieved by the 2022 team.
