President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Friday embark on an official visit to Ogun State, where he is expected to commission and inspect a range of key infrastructure projects across the Gateway State.
According to a statement issued by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the President’s itinerary highlights a broad showcase of strategic investments spanning critical sectors of the state’s economy.
A major highlight of the visit is the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, a landmark project aimed at positioning Ogun State as a major aviation and logistics hub within Nigeria.
Within the airport complex, the President will also commission two newly acquired aircraft under Gateway Air, marking the official launch of the state’s aviation initiative in partnership with ValueJet.
The statement further noted that Tinubu will witness a cargo operations demonstration facilitated by SAHCOL, signaling the airport’s readiness for full-scale logistics and freight activities, alongside the commissioning of additional assets including 1,000 electric bikes, 80 security vehicles, and a fleet of agricultural tractors.
Beyond the airport, the President is scheduled to commission the Ilishan–Iperu Airport Road, a key infrastructure linking the aviation hub to surrounding communities, and inspect the Nigeria Customs Service Village, as well as commission the Forward Operating Base (FOB) to enhance border security and trade facilitation.
The visit will also feature the inspection and commissioning of the Gateway Aviation Village, while the reconstructed Sapade–Ilishan Road, popularly known as the Old Ibadan Road, will be officially inaugurated and renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway to boost connectivity and commerce.
President Tinubu will conclude the visit with the inspection of the Sagamu–Benin Concrete Road, a major federal project, as the Ogun State Government under Dapo Abiodun reiterates its commitment to building a modern, economically vibrant, and well-connected state through sustained collaboration with the federal government.
