Johnson Leads Alimosho Christian Community In End-of-Year Thanksgiving Service

The Christian community of Alimosho Local Government Area has held a Christmas Carol and End-of-Year Thanksgiving Service to appreciate God for His faithfulness throughout 2025 and to usher in the New Year 2026 with prayers.

The programme, which attracted a large turnout of Christian faithful within the local government, was attended by the Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Akinpelu Johnson; the Vice Chairman, Adebisi Francis, top government officials; and staff of the council.

In his address, the chairman emphasised gratitude to God, describing the occasion as a moment for thanksgiving rather than politics or official business, saying “Today is not a day for official talk, but a day to thank Almighty God and appreciate Him for all His blessings in our lives. Being at the helm of affairs in Alimosho today calls for thanksgiving. It is not by my might, but through God’s benevolence,” he said.

He urged residents to remain grateful for the gift of life, noting that life itself is sustained by divine grace. “We should thank God for sparing our lives up to this day. Some have passed on—not because they sinned—but because God knows best,” he added.

The chairman also called on residents to embrace the culture of giving and caring for the less privileged, stressing that social responsibility should not be left to government alone, adding “Helping the less privileged should not be seen as the responsibility of government alone. As individuals, we can do our part. Cultivating the habit of giving is one of the best philosophies anyone can instil”.

He further encouraged residents to prioritise their health by engaging in routine medical check-ups, noting that his administration places high importance on the health and wellbeing of workers through regular medical screenings.

Johnson concluded by wishing council workers and residents of Alimosho a joyful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year 2026.

In his remarks, the Vice Chairman, Adebisi Francis, underscored the importance of praising God at all times, citing Psalm 150:1–6 and noting that thanksgiving and praise remain central to Christian faith and living.

The Christmas Carol marked the first official activity signalling the commencement of end-of-year celebrations in Alimosho Local Government Area.
