Lagos HoS Urges Public Servants To Prioritise Regular Medical Check-ups

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, has urged public servants to undergo regular medical check-ups to stay informed about their health status and promote overall well-being.
Agoro made the call during the August edition of the monthly Walk for Fitness exercise held at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, where he stressed the importance of creating greater awareness about preventive healthcare.
He noted that good health and well-being are essential for improved productivity in the public service, adding that maintaining a healthy workforce is a shared responsibility of both employees and government.

Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, and a Health Educator from the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Adefunke Amodu, commended public servants for their consistent participation in the fitness exercise. They emphasised the importance of regular medical check-ups and healthy living.
Mrs. Amodu urged public servants to know their health status through routine medical examinations, particularly by screening for hepatitis, a viral infection that primarily affects the liver.

She also advised participants to avoid unprotected sex, refrain from using unsterilised medical equipment and sharp objects, and limit alcohol consumption to reduce the risk of contracting the disease.
In addition, she encouraged them to adopt healthy eating habits by consuming hygienically prepared meals, eating more fruits and vegetables, drinking adequate water, and maintaining an active lifestyle to improve their overall health.
