In a bid to enhance the capacity of Land Officers in land administration, the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Establishments and Training, has flagged off a two-day training programme on Land Titling and Documentation.
Declaring the programme open, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun, who was represented by the Director of Industrial Relations, Ms. Anne Kushimo, described the initiative as a strategic response to the growing complexities in land governance occasioned by rapid urbanisation and population growth in the state.
The Permanent Secretary said the training was aimed at equipping Land Officers with the requisite knowledge and skills to ensure transparent, secure and efficient land titling processes, in line with international best practices.
“Land titling and documentation are not just administrative formalities; they are essential instruments of economic empowerment, legal certainty, and public trust. When land records are accurate and accessible, they provide a basis for investment, dispute resolution, and confidence in governance,” she said.
Abidakun noted that the training aligns with the Lagos State Government’s ongoing reform agenda, which prioritises efficiency, digital transformation, and improved service delivery across the public sector.
She added that effective land documentation supports broader goals such as infrastructure development, urban planning, and sustainable economic growth.
Participants at the training, drawn from the Ministry of Housing, Lands Bureau, Lagos State Valuation Office and the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure, are expected to gain practical insights into regulatory frameworks, documentation standards, and technological innovations in land administration.
Speaking further, the Permanent Secretary commended participants for their timely presence and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to developing a competent and forward-looking civil service.
