LASG Urges Residents To Report Fake, Expired Products

…gives toll-free line for consumer complaints
The Lagos State Government has urged residents to promptly report fake, expired and adulterated products, misleading advertisements and other consumer-related violations to the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA).
LASCOPA General Manager, Afolabi Solebo, said the agency’s toll-free helpline, 080 0005 2726, provides consumers with a direct channel to lodge complaints and seek assistance.
Solebo urged residents not to rely solely on social media to expose bad practices, stressing that formal complaints supported by evidence would enable the agency to investigate and take appropriate enforcement action.
He advised consumers to provide receipts, invoices, photographs or videos, product labels, payment records and screenshots of transactions or online advertisements when reporting violations.
According to him, complaints may cover counterfeit or expired goods, defective products, misleading advertisements, unfair business practices, poor services and online shopping disputes.
Solebo also urged consumers to verify sellers, prices and product information before making purchases, particularly online.
He advised residents to check product labels for manufacturers’ details, expiry dates, batch numbers, ingredients and usage instructions before buying.
“Consumer protection is a shared responsibility — government, businesses and consumers,” Solebo said, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspected violations through LASCOPA’s official channels.
