I’m Back In Super Eagles For Love Of Football – Iheanacho

Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has said his return to the national team is driven by his love and passion for football, rather than any individual or personal interest.

Ahead of today’s international friendly against Russia, Iheanacho expressed delight at rejoining the Super Eagles, describing representing Nigeria as a long-standing dream dating back to his early days in football.

“I’m not coming to the national team because of anybody or because of anything. It’s because of the love I have for the game and the passion. It’s the dream of everyone to play for the Super Eagles,” Iheanacho said.

The former Manchester City forward said his desire to represent Nigeria has remained strong throughout his career, adding that he would give his best whenever called upon by coach Éric Chelle.

Iheanacho also said his commitment would not depend on how long he spends on the pitch, stressing that he was ready to contribute whether given a few minutes or the entire match.

“No matter if I play 15 or 90 minutes, I will play. It doesn’t matter. As long as the coach gives me a call, I will play,” he said.

The 29-year-old added that he was happy to be back with the squad and looked forward to contributing to the team’s success.

“I’m really happy to be here and I will enjoy it with the boys. Hopefully, we have a very good outing on Tuesday,” he added.
