Nigeria’s women’s U-17 national team, the Flamingos, have advanced to the third and final round of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers following a dominant two-legged performance against Guinea.
Having secured a convincing 5-0 victory in the first leg in Abidjan, the Flamingos completed the task in emphatic fashion with a 6-0 triumph in the return leg at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, sealing an overwhelming 11-0 aggregate victory.
Backed by home support, the Flamingos wasted no time asserting their dominance. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring in the ninth minute, finishing off a precise cross from Queen Joseph to continue her impressive form across both legs of the tie.
Captain Harmony Chidi doubled Nigeria’s advantage shortly afterwards with a superb long-range effort. The Flamingos maintained their attacking momentum, and Queen Joseph added a third goal in the 23rd minute with a clinical finish.
Adegbuyi grabbed her second goal of the match in the 32nd minute, rising highest to head home and further underline Nigeria’s superiority. The relentless pressure left Guinea struggling to cope with the hosts’ attacking quality.
Just two minutes later, Chidi completed her brace, finishing a well-worked team move to hand Nigeria a commanding five-goal lead before halftime and put the contest beyond doubt.
The Flamingos carried the same intensity into the second half, creating several opportunities before substitute Precious Oscar added the sixth goal in the 70th minute to complete a comprehensive 6-0 victory on the day.
The result sends Nigeria into the final round of the qualifiers with an impressive 11-0 aggregate scoreline, where they will face Benin Republic for a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
In recognition of the team’s outstanding performance, proprietor of Remo Stars FC and Beyond Limits FC, Hon. Kunle Soname, redeemed his pledge of N750,000 per goal by rewarding the Flamingos with N4.5 million.
