The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the ancient city of Ibadan on Friday, bringing together key stakeholders ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The meeting will take place at the Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Events Hall, opposite the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. A major highlight of the AGM will be the draws for the 2026/27 NPFL season, which is scheduled to kick off later this month.
The AGM serves as the league’s highest business meeting, where the NPFL Board and club representatives review the outgoing season, assess the league’s performance, and ratify policies and operational plans for the new campaign.
Under the leadership of Board Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, the NPFL has maintained a stable football calendar over the past four seasons, with each campaign beginning in August and concluding in May.
Reflecting on the board’s achievements, Elegbeleye said one of its most significant accomplishments has been establishing a predictable league calendar since the 2023/24 season.
“Our modest achievement includes putting the NPFL on a stable calendar since the 2023/24 season. It is a major shift from the era of never knowing when the season would be concluded,” he said.
Elegbeleye also highlighted the board’s progress in expanding television coverage of the league, noting that efforts to secure regular live broadcasts had yielded positive results, although more work remained to be done.
During the AGM, the NPFL’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, will present the league’s technical and operations report, while GTI Assets Management will deliver the financial report.
