CAF Draw Sets Rangers, Rivers, 3SC, El-kanemi On Continental Path

Nigeria’s representatives in the 2026 CAF inter-club competitions have learned their opponents following the preliminary round draws conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Rangers International have been drawn against SobeMap FC of the Benin Republic in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

Should the Flying Antelopes progress, they will face the winner of the tie between Nigelec of Niger Republic and MC Alger of Algeria in the second preliminary round.

Also in the CAF Champions League, Rivers United will take on San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire in the opening preliminary round. Victory over the Ivorian side would set up a second-round clash against either Uganda’s Vipers SC or FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan have been handed a tough first-round fixture against Tunisian giants CS Sfaxien.

The winner of that encounter will advance to face either Amadou Diallo FC of Côte d’Ivoire or East End Lions of Sierra Leone in the second preliminary round.

Meanwhile, 2026 Federation Cup champions Elkanemi Warriors will begin their Confederation Cup campaign against UDIB of Guinea-Bissau in the first preliminary round.

If they overcome the Guinea-Bissau side, the Maiduguri-based club will face Moroccan heavyweights Raja Casablanca in the second preliminary round.
