NFF Appoints Busari As Flamingos Head Coach Ahead Of World Cup Qualifiers

 

 

The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the appointment of Akeem Ishola Busari as Head Coach of the U-17 Girls National Team, the Flamingos.

Busari brings a wealth of experience and a strong understanding of women’s football to the role. He succeeds Coach Bankole Olowookere, who led the Flamingos for several years, notably guiding the team to a bronze medal at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.

His immediate assignment is to lead the Flamingos in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco.

Nigeria’s U-17 girls are set to face the winner of the preliminary round clash between Niger Republic and Guinea, with the first leg scheduled to be played away in the third week of next month.

Busari currently serves as Head Coach of Pacesetter Queens Football Club in Ibadan.
