Paul Biya has been declared winner of Cameroon’s presidential election.
The results were announced by the Constitutional Council on Monday.
Biya was re-elected for an eighth term with 53.7 percent of the vote, according to official results announced by the Constitutional Council.
Rival candidate and former government minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary came second with 35.2 percent, the council said.
Biya, 92, will now serve his eighth consecutive term in office and will govern till 2032.
