Super Eagles To Face Pharaohs Of Egypt In Pre-AFCON Friendly

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are scheduled to face Egypt’s Pharaohs in an international friendly on December 14 in Cairo, as part of preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be hosted by Morocco later in December.

According to reports, the high-profile fixture will serve as a crucial tune-up match for both sides as they fine-tune their squads ahead of the continental showpiece.

The encounter will rekindle one of African football’s most storied rivalries.

The two nations last met at the 2021 AFCON, held in Cameroon in early 2022, where Nigeria triumphed 1–0 thanks to a stunning strike from Kelechi Iheanacho in the group stage.

Both teams are among the tournament favourites for Morocco 2025, with Egypt chasing a record-extending eighth continental title, while Nigeria aim to capture their fourth.
