Lagos Govt Expands Skills Drive, Enrolls Youths Across IBILE Divisions In TVET Scheme
The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, has officially onboarded youths from the five IBILE divisions—Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe—into Cohort I of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme.
The onboarding ceremony, held at the Sam Shonibare Auditorium in Surulere, underscores the State Government’s sustained commitment to youth empowerment and job creation.
In her goodwill message, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe—represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lolade Aina—emphasised the significance of the initiative in addressing unemployment and bridging the skills gap.
She described the TVET programme as a critical component of the administration’s strategy to reduce unemployment and empower young people with relevant, market-driven skills.
“With these skills, beneficiaries will not only be better positioned for employment but also empowered to establish their own businesses,” she said.
She further noted that the initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly in advancing economic growth and fostering social inclusion.
“We are ensuring that youths across all five IBILE divisions have equal access to this opportunity, so that no community is left behind in our pursuit of shared prosperity,” she added.
Participants will undergo intensive training facilitated by experienced instructors using modern facilities, equipping them for real-world opportunities.
