Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently facing a legal battle as the family of Alhaji Yahaya Sabo, the former Chairman of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN), seeks to reclaim their late father’s property.
According to the Sabo family, Adamu allegedly acquired the property unlawfully during his tenure as the governor of the state and subsequently sold it to the government.
This has caused tensions to escalate as the family demands justice for the alleged wrongful acquisition and sale of their ancestral property.
Alhaji Mohammed Yahaya Sabo, the first son of the late NPN Chairman, revealed in a candid conversation with journalists in Lafia on Saturday that the property was originally given to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as an office during Adamu’s time as governor.
However, the situation took an alarming turn when Adamu purportedly sold the property to the state government while serving as the governor, leading to the family’s efforts to reclaim it since their father’s passing.
Despite numerous pleas and legal action initiated against Adamu, the former governor has reportedly shown little commitment to resolve the issue, according to Mohammed Sabo. The family even sought mediation from the late Emir of Lafia, Mustapha Agwai, but Adamu continued to resist their attempts to reclaim the property.
The prolonged struggle for ownership has made the Sabo family resolute in their pursuit to regain their late father’s property. Mohammed Yahaya Sabo stated that they are prepared to take drastic measures, even sealing off the property occupied by Radio Nigeria if necessary.
The situation has caused division within the family, with allegations that Mohammed conspired with Adamu in facilitating the sale of the disputed property. However, Mohammed Yahaya Sabo made a sincere plea to Governor Abdullahi Sule and conscientious citizens of the state to pressure Adamu into showing compassion and returning their family’s property, aiming to foster an atmosphere of harmony and justice.
Quoting Alhaji Mohammed Yahaya Sabo, he said, “We remain committed to securing our rightful inheritance, and it is our fervent hope that Governor Abdullahi Sule and well-meaning citizens will rally to our cause, ensuring the restoration of our family’s legacy for the greater good.”
