2027: Obanikoro Tasks Lagos APC Leaders On Unity, Strategic Planning

The Director-General of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) PBAT/KOH Campaign Council, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has urged party leaders and campaign officials to strengthen unity, improve coordination and adopt a common strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Obanikoro made the call while delivering the opening address at the ongoing Lagos APC Campaign Council retreat at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The retreat, themed “The Road to the Ballot: One Team, One Strategy,” is aimed at aligning the party’s leadership and campaign structures towards achieving its electoral objectives.

Obanikoro said electoral success required deliberate planning, effective coordination, disciplined execution and sustained engagement with the electorate, stressing that political enthusiasm alone was insufficient to secure victory at the polls.

According to him, the party must establish a clear vision, shared strategy, defined responsibilities and effective communication channels to mobilise its structures and supporters towards a common goal.

He emphasised that the individual contributions of party leaders, directorates, subcommittees and campaign structures would be more effective if properly coordinated, urging stakeholders to place the collective interest of the party above personal considerations.

“No single individual, sub-committee, directorate or campaign structure can achieve electoral success in isolation. Our collective strength lies in our ability to work as one coordinated team, respect established channels of communication, resolve differences constructively, and place the overall interest of the Party above personal considerations,” he said.

The campaign council director-general noted that unity did not necessarily mean agreement on every issue but required members to remain committed to a common purpose despite their differences.

He described the retreat as an opportunity for party leaders to assess their preparedness, strengthen relationships, identify potential challenges and agree on practical strategies for the elections.

Obanikoro said the deliberations would also help clarify the respective roles of the party and the campaign council while establishing effective mechanisms for coordination, mobilisation, communication and accountability.

He urged participants to approach the discussions with open minds and a sense of responsibility, encouraging them to engage constructively, acknowledge weaknesses, build on existing strengths and develop realistic strategies capable of delivering measurable results.

The former senator also stressed the need for a people-centred campaign, saying the party’s relationship with the electorate must be built on meaningful engagement, credible communication and responsiveness to public concerns.

He added that the party’s structures must be well organised and its messages consistent, while interactions with citizens should remain respectful, factual and responsible.

Obanikoro cautioned that the success of the retreat should not be judged by the speeches delivered but by the decisions reached, commitments made and actions implemented after the meeting.

He expressed hope that the deliberations would produce a clearer understanding of shared priorities, a coordinated approach to responsibilities and a practical roadmap for translating the party’s objectives into measurable progress.

Reaffirming his commitment to working with the party leadership and other stakeholders, the director-general pledged to promote effective coordination, strategic discipline, mutual respect and purposeful execution of agreed plans.

He urged participants to leave the retreat with renewed determination, stressing that unity and adequate preparation were essential to achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
