Algeria Stun Jordan With Late World Cup Fightback

Algeria staged a second-half comeback to beat Jordan 2-1 on Monday and keep their 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes alive.

After falling behind in the 31st minute to Nizar Al Rashdan’s clever finish, Algeria improved after the break following changes from coach Vladimir Petković. Nadir Benbouali equalised in the 69th minute with a header from a Riyad Mahrez corner, before Amine Gouiri struck the winner in the 82nd minute after a deflection.

Jordan struggled to recover as Algeria controlled the closing stages. The result leaves Jordan out of contention ahead of their final group game against Argentina, while Algeria can still reach the knockout rounds and may secure second place with a win over Austria.
