The Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Tunji Olaopa, will on Monday lead commissioners and senior officials at an implementation workshop in Abuja aimed at securing stakeholders’ buy-in for the commission’s strategic plan.
The workshop forms part of ongoing efforts by the commission to reposition itself as a modern institution capable of delivering its constitutional mandate with greater efficiency, transparency and accountability.
Since the inauguration of the 10th Federal Civil Service Commission in December 2023, the commission has embarked on several reform initiatives in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to transform, reorient and digitise the federal bureaucracy to support economic growth and private sector participation under the Renewed Hope agenda.
The first phase of the reform process was the development of a Repositioning Plan in early 2024, which has already recorded implementation milestones. This was followed by the formulation of the more comprehensive FCSC Strategic Plan 2026–2030, completed in December 2025.
According to the commission, a memorandum has already been submitted to the Federal Executive Council seeking approval for the major components of the strategic plan, as well as the resources required for its implementation.
The commission noted that the implementation phase is crucial to translating strategic priorities into measurable outcomes that will strengthen its mandate, improve operational efficiency, modernise service delivery and boost public confidence in civil service management processes.
The workshop is expected to bring together commissioners, directors, senior officers and union leaders to deepen understanding of the strategic plan, validate implementation priorities and establish actionable milestones for execution between 2026 and 2027.
It will also serve as a platform to align stakeholders on delivery, accountability, monitoring and continuous improvement, while identifying critical enablers needed to ensure the sustainability and successful implementation of the commission’s strategic initiatives and programmes.
