First Lady’s Support Driving Women’s Sports Success — NSC DG

The Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, has praised Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her unwavering support for sports development in the country.

Olopade made the remarks as the First Lady received Nigeria’s victorious women’s wrestling team following their triumph at the recently concluded African Wrestling Championship in Egypt.

Nigeria secured a record-extending 15th continental title in the women’s category after winning eight gold and two silver medals at the championship.

The NSC boss described the First Lady as one of the strongest supporters of Nigerian wrestling, particularly in promoting women’s participation in sports.

“The First Lady’s special commitment to Nigerian sports has played a significant role in the continued success of the country’s women athletes at both continental and global competitions,” Olopade said.

“She has been a mother figure to all of us, sacrificing her time, attention, and resources to ensure that every girl-child involved in sports is given the opportunity to fulfil her dreams,” he added.
