The Deputy Governor of Lagos State and 2027 consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms on Thursday, ahead of the party’s primaries.
Hamzat, in a statement on his facebook page, shortly after the submission, described his ambition as a continuation of his commitment to public service and the development of the state.
He added “Today, I submitted my expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 gubernatorial election. This journey is about service, responsibility, and building a Lagos that works better for every family, every business and every person that calls this state home,” he stated.
The deputy governor noted that while the state had recorded significant progress over the years, there was still more work to be done in critical sectors to improve the lives of the people.
Hamzat said he was stepping forward with the experience and vision required to sustain the growth and transformation of the state.
“We have made progress together but there is still more to do. I am stepping forward with experience, purpose and a deep belief in the future of our state. The journey to a greater Lagos continues,” he added.
His declaration is expected to intensify political activities within the APC ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Lagos.
