Super Eagles Captain Ndidi Back As Beşiktaş Cruise To Victory

Nigeria manager Eric Chelle has received a major boost ahead of his squad announcement for the upcoming international window, following the return of captain Wilfred Ndidi to action for his Turkish club Beşiktaş on Thursday evening.

Ndidi made his comeback during a Turkish Cup quarterfinal clash against Alanyaspor after a spell on the sidelines due to injury.

The midfielder had been out of action since sustaining a hamstring injury in the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 5.

During his absence, Ndidi missed key Super Lig fixtures against Antalyaspor and Samsunspor.

On his return, the Super Eagles captain was named in the starting lineup and went on to complete the full match.

Beşiktaş secured an emphatic 3–0 victory, with El Bilal Touré opening the scoring in the 17th minute.

Late goals from Hyeon-gyu Oh in the 83rd minute and Orkun Kökçü sealed the win for the Black Eagles.

Ndidi’s return to fitness will be a welcome development for Chelle ahead of Nigeria’s high-profile friendlies against Poland and Portugal in June, as well as the 2026 Unity Cup, where the Super Eagles are set to face Zimbabwe and either Jamaica or India at The Valley.
