The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has concluded its inaugural National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, marking a significant milestone just one month after its registration.
The meeting, held in Abuja, brought together national leaders, state chairmen, and stakeholders from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to deliberate on the party’s structure, priorities, and 2027 election strategy.
Addressing participants, National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, described the session as a success, praising the strong turnout and diverse national representation.
He commended members for embracing the party’s vision and urged officials at all levels to intensify grassroots mobilisation, public enlightenment, and membership registration.
The NEC ratified the interim national leadership, confirming Senator Moses Cleopas as National Chairman and Mr Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu, Esq., as National Secretary, alongside other pro-tem members pending congresses.
It also directed the Working Committee to release a timetable for ward, local government, state, and national congresses, as well as the National Convention, while preparations for 2027 primaries are to begin immediately.
In line with inclusivity goals, the NEC adopted an affirmative action policy to boost the participation of women, youths, and persons with disabilities, with strict compliance expected across all states.
The party positioned itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians, encouraging new members to join while reaffirming its commitment to democracy, justice, equity, and sustainable development ahead of the 2027 elections.
