Nnadozie Misses Out As CAF Unveils 2026 Women’s Goalkeeper Of The Year Shortlist

Nigeria’s Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has missed out on the shortlist for the 2026 CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award for the first time in three years.

Nnadozie, who has established herself as one of Africa’s leading goalkeepers, was absent from the 10-player shortlist unveiled by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The Nigerian international had been a regular contender for the prestigious individual award in recent years, making her omission from this year’s nominations a notable development.

The shortlisted goalkeepers are Chloe Ng’azi, Michaely Bihina, Cynthia Konlan, Mercy Sikelo, Fatoumata Karantao, Khadija Er-Rmichi, Christiana Uzuma, Adji Ndiaye, Kaylin Swart and Hazel Nali.

Meanwhile, the Super Falcons have secured a nomination for the Women’s National Team of the Year award, maintaining Nigeria’s presence among Africa’s leading women’s football teams.

The nomination comes despite the team’s quarter-final exit at the last Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Nigeria will compete against Cameroon, Malawi, Morocco and South Africa for the prestigious team award.

The 2026 CAF Awards will recognise outstanding performances by African footballers, coaches, teams and administrators during the year.
