Nottingham Forest took a giant step towards Premier League survival while deepening Tottenham Hotspur’s relegation worries with a commanding victory in north London.
Goals from Igor Jesus, Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi sealed the win in a crucial basement clash, lifting Forest three points clear of the drop zone.
The result moved Forest up to 16th place, leapfrogging Spurs, who now sit just one point above the relegation zone after West Ham’s defeat at Aston Villa.
The loss increases pressure on Tottenham interim manager Igor Tudor, who has endured a difficult spell since taking charge seven games ago.
Forest’s victory also marked their first Premier League win under manager Vitor Pereira since his appointment in February.
Tottenham’s struggles continue, with the team now winless in the league since 28 December and having lost six of their last seven matches.
Despite dominating much of the first half, Spurs fell behind in stoppage time when Igor Jesus headed Forest into the lead, before Gibbs-White doubled the advantage in the 62nd minute from Callum Hudson-Odoi’s assist.
Awoniyi added a late third to seal the emphatic win, leaving Tottenham with seven matches to save their Premier League status.
