Gratitude, Reflection As Makinde Leads Oyo’s Golden Jubilee Thanksgiving

As part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde on Sunday led a thanksgiving service at the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo, Ibadan.

The governor said the service, which formed part of Day Seven of the anniversary celebrations, was organised to express gratitude to God for His guidance, protection and mercy over the state since its creation.

Makinde described the golden jubilee as a significant milestone in the history of Oyo State, noting that it provided an opportunity for reflection and renewed commitment to development.

He thanked former Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi, for honouring the state with his presence at the thanksgiving service.

The governor also expressed appreciation to Chief Mrs Titilola Adeleke for joining in the celebration, describing her participation as a symbol of unity and goodwill.

According to Makinde, thanksgiving services were held simultaneously across all 33 local government areas of the state.

He explained that the statewide services were aimed at collectively thanking Almighty God for His faithfulness and mercy towards Oyo State and its people over the past five decades.
