APC Extends Membership E-registration, Excludes 3 States, FCT From 2026 Congresses

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revised its timetable for activities ahead of its 2026 party congresses, extending the ongoing membership e-registration exercise to February 8, 2026, while excluding Rivers State, Osun State, Ekiti State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from the forthcoming congresses.

The development was announced on Friday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, following a meeting of the 183rd National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

Morka disclosed that the membership e-registration exercise, which was initially scheduled to end on January 30, 2026, has been extended to allow more party members to register and to help the APC achieve its target of 12 million registered members.

He also announced a shift in the date of the party’s National Convention, which was earlier fixed for March 17, 2026, and will now hold on March 27 and 28, 2026. According to him, the party’s ward, local government, state and zonal congresses are scheduled to take place on February 18, 2026.

Addressing journalists, Morka said the NWC resolved to exempt Osun State, Ekiti State and the FCT from the upcoming congresses due to pending governorship and council elections in those areas. He explained that congresses in the affected states and the FCT would be conducted after the elections have been concluded.

He further stated that Rivers State was excluded because the party conducted off-cycle congresses in the state last year, and the tenure of the executives elected during that process has not yet expired.
