Land Grabbing: Edo Vows Justice for Dispossessed Owners, Begins Review Of Past Acquisitions

The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the issue of land grabbing across the state, particularly cases where land was unjustly taken from rightful owners during the previous administration, in a bid to restore justice and fairness.

This assurance was given by the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Hon. Yakubu Musa, while addressing affected landowners from various communities at the Ministry’s premises in Benin City.

Musa noted that the government is specifically focused on resolving disputes surrounding land acquisition in Oke-Oroma, adding that several meetings have already been held to address the concerns of those affected.

He urged the landowners to remain calm, assuring them that the disputed parcels of land would be returned to their legitimate owners in accordance with state directives.

The landowners expressed gratitude to Governor Monday Okpebholo for initiating steps to resolve the long-standing issue.
