‘Stop Oppressive Policies’: PDP Tells Tinubu Government as Nigerians Mark Eid-el-Maulud
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to review policies it says are inflicting hardship on Nigerians.
In a statement congratulating Muslims on the 2025 Eid-el-Maulud celebration, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said millions of citizens are unable to fully partake in the festivities due to “excruciating hardship occasioned by APC policies.”
According to the PDP, APC leaders are “arrogantly luxuriating and displaying their extravagant lifestyle” while ignoring the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
“The PDP calls on the APC-led government to use the occasion to introspect and end its affliction on the people by reviewing all its oppressive policies that continue to inflict hardship, promote insecurity and undermine the quality of life across the country. The APC should also respect the sovereign will of Nigerians, listen to alternative opinions—which is the hallmark of democracy—and abandon its drift towards totalitarianism,” the statement read.
The opposition party accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of insensitivity to public suffering and condoning corruption. “It is indeed lamentable that despite the anguish being faced by Nigerians, the Tinubu-led administration has remained insensitive and continues to condone corruption and mindless pillaging of our national resources by APC members and its apologists,” it added.
The PDP warned the ruling party against taking Nigerians for granted, saying its actions risk “pushing a people to the wall.”
It urged citizens not to lose hope but to continue showing love to one another while remaining resolute in supporting the PDP to “salvage the nation.”
The party also called on Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud to “foster the much-needed national rebirth and reinforce their resolve against totalitarianism in our country.”
