The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Kazeem Bello, announced the results in the early hours of Sunday at INEC Collation Centre, Ikenne.

Bello declared the APC candidate winner after polling 41,237 votes against her closest rival, Bola Oluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party, who recorded 14,324 votes.

Announcing the final results, Prof. Bello said, “The APC candidate, Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji, having fulfilled all requirements of the Electoral Act and having secured the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the by-election to fill the vacant seat of the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal constituency of the House of Representatives.”

She promised to deliver effective representation, building on the solid achievements recorded by her predecessor and late occupant of the seat, Mrs Adewunmi Onanuga, fondly called Ijaya, who died on January 15 after a brief illness.
