2027: NURTW Chieftain Istijabah Backs Tinubu, Hamzat, Hails CNG Policy

…says nationwide road repairs ease transport business
A chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, Alhaji Azeez Abiola Istijabah, has urged residents and transport operators to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC governorship candidate Dr Obafemi Hamzat in the 2027 elections.
He made the call at an empowerment programme for tricycle operators in Alimosho, where he distributed brake oil, tyres, pointers and other maintenance items.
Istijabah said the Tinubu administration’s adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) had reduced transport operators’ fuel costs, with tricycle operators spending about N3,500 to N4,000 daily on CNG compared with N15,000 to N17,000 on petrol.

He commended the government’s CNG initiative and urged beneficiaries to mobilise support for Tinubu and Hamzat, saying the APC had performed well at the federal and state levels.
He also announced the union’s quarterly safety monitoring programme, which will inspect commercial vehicles across Lagos and provide items such as tyres, mirrors, wipers and engine oil where needed.
Istijabah warned that poor maintenance, particularly faulty braking systems, could cause accidents and loss of lives. He urged operators to obey traffic regulations, cooperate with authorities and ensure their vehicles were roadworthy.
He commended Lagos’ transport projects, including the Blue, Green and Red Line rail systems, and assured operators that the union’s safety interventions would continue.
