The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, has suspended a former senator and governorship candidate in the 2023 gubernatorial contest in the state, Dino Melaye.

The Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1 Executive Committee declared Melaye suspended after he disregarded a summon.

Melaye was suspended for allegedly misbehaving and participating in anti-party activities, said to have embarrassed and damaged the party’s reputation.

At a meeting on Friday, the Ward executive committee made the decision after going over the findings of the disciplinary committee constituted to look into Melaye’s actions.

The resolution, signed by Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika and Secretary Yodson Dayo, said, Melaye’s continuing membership in the party is untenable.

“The suspension is in line with provisions of Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution which empowers the Ward party excos to take disciplinary actions against erring members,” the party said.
