The National Sports Commission (NSC) on Tuesday met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino at FIFA headquarters in Zurich to discuss reforms, governance and development pathways for Nigerian football.
The Nigerian delegation, led by NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko, explored ways to strengthen collaboration and build a more sustainable football system.
Infantino said the discussions focused on institutional and governance reforms, youth development and areas where FIFA could support Nigerian football.
NSC Director-General Bukola Olopade said the meeting reflected the Commission’s commitment to reforms based on global best practices, stronger institutions and clearer pathways for young players.
He said the process was focused on building a sustainable football system rather than individuals.
The NSC said it would continue working with FIFA and other stakeholders to develop an inclusive framework that creates opportunities for athletes, administrators and young Nigerians.
The delegation included Amaju Pinnick, Emmanuel Ikpeme and Okey Obi. CAF Second Vice President Kurt Okraku and FIFA’s Africa Director of Member Associations, Gelson Fernandes, also attended.
